What do I think about Florida...

wp-1476780580242.jpg

I was invited to a bachelorette party and while I was there I extended my trip for a week.

If you have never been to Florida it is hot, humid, and sticky. Within 7 minutes, the ice in my iced peach tea from Starbucks had already melted. 😑

If you're in the Miami Beach district you're probably less than a block away from the ocean. Yes, I spent most of my time sitting by the ocean enjoying the waves crashing in, watching the sunrise, and watching the sunset.

It was too hot, I couldn't take the heat to go shopping. Besides eating. . . .

The water ... this was my first time at an ocean. It tasted disgusting. I tried so hard not to get it in my mouth, but it just somehow managed to get inside my mouth. Eeek. 😖 The water was warm. I was surprised. That was one of the best thing. The water stings your eyes! Yes, it hurts. Don't even try to rub it off because your whole arm is wet and full of the salt water! I tried not to go underwater and just leave my head out, like a fishing bobber.

What I loved about my time there was watching the sunset and sunrise. I set my tripod and camera up and took time lapses of the sunsets and sunrises. It was fascinating to watch how beautiful and fast time goes by. (That is my brother in the photo)

I loved the sunsets. It had beautiful shades that looked like cotton candy. 😋

wp-1476780531915.jpg

The palm trees? I was disappointed. When you think about Florida you think about palm trees and coconuts, correct? You will not see big beautiful palm trees. They are short and stubby. Occasionally, you will spot beautiful tall palm trees like the image below.

I think I had too much expectations of Florida. I really expected more. I was bored most of the time. I was either in my hotel with the air conditioning on or I was sitting by the beach under an umbrella. I tried so hard not to let the hot humid weather get to me, but it seriously did. It was not a joke. While my brother and I was walking to the hotel my brother said to me, "you know, I think I can live here..." I just stood there and stared at him, are you kidding me. This is FUCKEN hot.

I did go all the way to the Keys. It was beautiful. I loved how people just parked on the side of the rode and swam.

As we were driving to and from the Keys. There were parts of the drive where the sides of the roads were blocked off by fences due to alligators/crocodiles crossing. Sometimes we even spotted parts of the fences that was lifted or broken. You know what that means, it means there was a huge and strong crocodile that tried to cross the rode. 😱 We kept ourselves entertained with stories of how the crocodile might have crossed the rode and we also kept our eyes out to see fences that were broken. And yes, it was very entertaining.

I did vlog our time in Florida. Click on the link below if you want to watch our time in Florida. [insert here link of florida vlog]

Overall, I didn't enjoy Florida. Maybe it's because of the weather. I don't know, but there was something about it that I just didn't enjoy. Makes me wonder if Santa Monica or Venice Beach will give the same vibe. (Fingers crossed. I hope not.) Don't get my wrong, I've always dreamed of living by the ocean and visiting Florida and California. But so far, Florida has really disappointed me.

California is still on my list to travel. I hope that I will make it out there, soon!

Lunch at Mississippi Market

Cc and I having lunch at Mississippi Market in Saint Paul, MN

Cc and I tried out the food at Mississippi Market and Mississippi Market is a natural foods market. I remember eating the chicken potpie at this grocery store when I was doing my nursing clinical one semester at a facility near this market. The chicken potpie was delicious.

I’ve been craving the food at this local grocery store lately, so CC and I had lunch there. This place is not a restaurant. It’s a deli inside the market. I ordered myself a Bánh mì and tropical sunrise smoothie and CC ordered spinach mushroom lasagna.

Cc and I having lunch at Mississippi Market in Saint Paul, MN

The Bánh mì sandwich wasn’t great. It looked appetizing, but it does not taste like the typical Bánh mì you get from your local Asian store. The bread tasted dry and stale. The vegetables were not pickled, except the pickle. The smoothie, on the other hand, was tasty. It contained strawberry, mango, banana, pineapple, and orange juice. All the yummy fruits! I didn’t get the chance to try out CC’s lunch, but it looked tasty and she said that it was scrumptious.

I do recommend the deli at Mississippi Market; there is MANY variety of food… I even got myself cookies, brownies, pastas, and 2 chicken potpies to go. They have menus on their website AND a menu for the whole month, you can check out what is on the menu for lunch before you go there for lunch or dinner.

This market is only in Minnesota and they have 3 locations. The location that I have tried is the one listed below.

Mississippi Market Food Co-op 1500 W 7th St. Saint Paul, MN 55102 Hours: Daily 7:30 am -9:30 pm www.msmarket.coop

If you try out the deli, come back and tell me what you ordered!

An Unexpected 4 Day Road Trip 2

An Unexpected 4 Day Road trip to Montana. The Vang Family. Livia Vang. Polson, Montana. Flathead Lake, Lake Mcdonald, Glacier National Park. yellowStone National Park, Traveling Sisters and Brothers. Siblings. Mountain goats, bisonsDay 3

We slept in Butte, MT on day 2 and when we awake we will start our journey home.

As we get ready to go home, we stopped by a gas station and happen to find that Yellowstone National Park was only 80 miles away. We talked….hesitated….and called back home and told the ones at home we are going to stay another day.

Do we regret this decision. No. Everywhere in Montana in beautiful. Huge mountains to the left and right of us capped with snow. It’s surreal. I mean, yes I live in Minnesota and we get A LOT of snow here. But have you seen snow on mountains with perfect, sunny, and 70 degree weather. We don’t get that in Minnesota.

Even the drive to Yellowstone National Park was amazing. We were driving along streams with the gorgeous mountains surrounding us. My siblings and I were looking for bears in the streams hoping to see a bear catch his meal. We didn’t see any.

As we get close to Yellowstone, we start seeing signs to beware of bisons. It sounds so unreal, right? Well they do pop out of nowhere. We saw a family of bison on the busy road and the speed limit was 70mph. My little sister wants to take pictures of the bisons but we kept telling her there will be more, hopefully, in the park. She was super sad and thought to herself that was going to be the last of it.

We enter into the West entrance of Yellowstone. I’m amazed. This place is it’s own little town. I loved how the buildings were so alike. It had its own little theme. It felt warm, cozy, and at home. The buildings were made from from wood, like a cabin.

We make our way into the park. The first thing that greeted us, was a lonely bison drinking water by the Madison River. Yes, my sister got her picture she wanted. But as we kept driving more into the park there was more than just one bison. There’s a pack of bison on the road, blocking us, traveling slowly to wherever their destination is. We loved it. They were super close to us, within arms reach. Our windows are rolled down a tiny bit and we can hear the bisons breathing. It was awesome and totally worth to spend day 3 at Yellowstone.

There were some areas of the park that wasn’t open for the day. But we still got to see a couple great things.

It was amazing. We had a great and fun time.

We left the park around 4pm. We have concluded this trip, for real this time. There was no more stopping, except for gas and restroom. Driving through the night is super dangerous. We encountered deers 2 times that evening. Thank God we did not hit any. But they definitely scared the life out of us.

We arrived home around 9AM. First thing first, we showed our films/pictures to the family.

They loved it.

An Unexpected 4 Day Road Trip

An Unexpected 4 Day Road trip to Montana. The Vang Family. Livia Vang. Polson, Montana. Flathead Lake, Lake Mcdonald, Glacier National Park. yellowStone National Park, Traveling Sisters and Brothers. Siblings.

A month ago my siblings and I packed our belongings and jumped into the car and headed out to Montana.

Rewind…… I’ll tell you the whole story how we decided to go on this road trip.

Venla, Sena and CC are my sisters. Venla is two years older then me, Sena is one year older, and CC is one year younger than me.

Date: April 19, 2016 Time: Around 6:00 PM Sena, CC, and I needed to grab items at Target and on the way there I said, “What if we call Venla and said that we’re going to Montana?” They said, “Dude, DO IT!” Of course, I called Venla but she didn’t pick up the first time. I kept trying to dial her and on the 7th attempt she picked up. I put her on speaker and said to her, “We’re gonna go to Montana. What do you think?” Unexpectedly, she replied back, “Sure, go ahead. I’ll watch the kids.” WHAT THE HECK. Are you kidding me. She just said YES. It was just a joke. We thought she would say no because it came up too fast. We got off the phone and talked among ourselves. I said, “Should we really go?” Sena, “I don’t know…” Cesea, “Let’s just go!” Me, “Should we?” Sena and Cc, “YEAH!”

And this is how we decided to take off to Montana.

Time: Probably 7:30ish There was a lot to do that evening. We needed to get to the grocery store to buy some snacks and drinks, rent a car, pack our belongings, and take a shower!

As Sena is driving us to the grocery store I’m on my phone reserving us a car from Avis and pick-up was at 10PM. We got to the store and bought chips, chips, pop, pop, water, granola bars, and ice.

Got out of the store, went home and told Venla it was a joke. We all laughed and another sibling is joining in on the trip. My little brother, T.

We packed and searched up places to see in Montana. As it was getting closer to 10PM we drove to the airport to pickup the car.

The car was amazing. It was perfect for the four of us. The Ford C Max. I love booking with Avis, we were in and out of the airport in less than 8 minutes.

We got home and just went straight to bed.

ZzzzZzzz………….

Day 1 Time: 5:00AM Time to Get Up! We got ourselves groomed and put everything in the car.

Time: 6:30AM We are on the road.

We love taking road trips because it is a wonderful time for us to just talk about your childhood memories and laugh together. And it’s what makes the trip so memorable. But, the first day of the trip was more of getting to Montana.

Time: 9:50PM We got to Helena, Montana. We stopped at a Walmart and slept there, in the parking lot. YES IN THE CAR! How was it possible? Well, that’s why I said the Ford C Max was perfect. We folded the seats down and it turned into a bed. Amazing right?! Thanks Ford! And No, I am not getting paid by Ford or Avis for saying this.

Day 2 We got up and we realize we didn’t eat anything that night. HAH. Thank goodness Burger King was right next to Walmart. We had breakfast at Burger King and also Facetimed the family back at home.

Montana is a beautiful place. Cc did not believe me when I said there was snowcapped mountains. Until she saw it right before her eyes. Every angle had its beauty. Just gorgeous.

Oo and I cannot forget this. There was no service. If we were to depend on our phones for navigation, we’d probably get no where and we’d get lost. So thanks to Ford again, the C Max had a Navigation System!

We had many stops along the way that weren’t planned. But this is part of traveling. Discovering natural beauties and soaking into what God has created for us. Earth is a beautiful place and sometimes we don’t appreciate it enough.

Such as this place. We were on our way to Glacier National Park and we saw this view. How can we not stop to enjoy this.An Unexpected 4 Day Road trip to Montana. The Vang Family. Livia Vang. Awe-inspiring.

One of the major places I wanted to see was Glacier National Park. Words cannot describe how beautiful this place was. Sadly, we did not get to see everything. We didn’t get to go on the Sun Road. The road was only open for 10 miles. But we got to see Lake McDonald.

We enjoyed the lake for a good 2 hour. Sena jumped into the lake and swam in the super cold water. We raced each other to see who could skip their rock the most and farthest. And we just sat and enjoyed the beautiful quiet lake with the huge snowcapped mountains behind the lake.

We also stopped on a wayside in Polson, Montana. The view was breath-taking. It just made me feel so complete, warm, and loved.

Practically, we just drove around. We discovered and explored wonderful and incedible places. We were thrilled and excited. We forgot to eat, most of the time. The time went by so fast. All of a sudden the sun is setting already.

We are ready to go back home. I didn’t want to drive at night, so we stopped at another Walmart. Rested there for the night and all I remember was reviewing what happened that day and I was asleep.

It felt like I just slept for a moment, but it was already day 3. I will continue day 3 tomorrow.

Adventure at Candyland

As I’m growing more of age, I feel myself more distant from chocolate and just any type of candy. But, still, there are days where I just GOT to have a butterfinger or a health bar.

On of those days happens to be a day where I’m at candyland. I had no idea there was a Candyland so close to home. It was amazingly, delicious!

So my sister and I took a trip to Candyland. We had no idea where it is so we GPS the way there. What’s funny was that, it felt like a magical adventure. The GPS says, “you will reach Candyland in 20 minutes,” or “candyland is on your left.” And it just felt like we were kids all over again.

We got in the store, and O my. I look to the left and I see a whole bunch of caramel apples in the process of being caramelized. I just turned to my sister and giggled. And yes, you bet I got some caramel apples. It was super satisfying. The apples were hard and crunchy, not mushy and the caramel coating was thick! Perfect. Adventure to Candyland in Saint Paul, Minnesota. St. Paul, MN

I love caramel. Most of the candy I got was mainly caramel. We got a whole bag full of chocolate covered caramel. This is the best. It’s so soft and smooth, sort of like the Milkyway candy bar caramel. I just couldn’t get enough of it.

I had such a fun time on this adventure with my little sister. It felt so nice to feel something magical. So glad I got to experience it with my little sister.

What’s your magical experience?
