A month ago my siblings and I packed our belongings and jumped into the car and headed out to Montana.
Rewind…… I’ll tell you the whole story how we decided to go on this road trip.
Venla, Sena and CC are my sisters. Venla is two years older then me, Sena is one year older, and CC is one year younger than me.
Date: April 19, 2016 Time: Around 6:00 PM Sena, CC, and I needed to grab items at Target and on the way there I said, “What if we call Venla and said that we’re going to Montana?” They said, “Dude, DO IT!” Of course, I called Venla but she didn’t pick up the first time. I kept trying to dial her and on the 7th attempt she picked up. I put her on speaker and said to her, “We’re gonna go to Montana. What do you think?” Unexpectedly, she replied back, “Sure, go ahead. I’ll watch the kids.” WHAT THE HECK. Are you kidding me. She just said YES. It was just a joke. We thought she would say no because it came up too fast. We got off the phone and talked among ourselves. I said, “Should we really go?” Sena, “I don’t know…” Cesea, “Let’s just go!” Me, “Should we?” Sena and Cc, “YEAH!”
And this is how we decided to take off to Montana.
Time: Probably 7:30ish There was a lot to do that evening. We needed to get to the grocery store to buy some snacks and drinks, rent a car, pack our belongings, and take a shower!
As Sena is driving us to the grocery store I’m on my phone reserving us a car from Avis and pick-up was at 10PM. We got to the store and bought chips, chips, pop, pop, water, granola bars, and ice.
Got out of the store, went home and told Venla it was a joke. We all laughed and another sibling is joining in on the trip. My little brother, T.
We packed and searched up places to see in Montana. As it was getting closer to 10PM we drove to the airport to pickup the car.
We got home and just went straight to bed.
Day 1 Time: 5:00AM Time to Get Up! We got ourselves groomed and put everything in the car.
Time: 6:30AM We are on the road.
We love taking road trips because it is a wonderful time for us to just talk about your childhood memories and laugh together. And it’s what makes the trip so memorable. But, the first day of the trip was more of getting to Montana.
Time: 9:50PM We got to Helena, Montana. We stopped at a Walmart and slept there, in the parking lot. YES IN THE CAR! How was it possible? Well, that’s why I said the Ford C Max was perfect. We folded the seats down and it turned into a bed. Amazing right?! Thanks Ford! And No, I am not getting paid by Ford or Avis for saying this.
Day 2 We got up and we realize we didn’t eat anything that night. HAH. Thank goodness Burger King was right next to Walmart. We had breakfast at Burger King and also Facetimed the family back at home.
Montana is a beautiful place. Cc did not believe me when I said there was snowcapped mountains. Until she saw it right before her eyes. Every angle had its beauty. Just gorgeous.
Oo and I cannot forget this. There was no service. If we were to depend on our phones for navigation, we’d probably get no where and we’d get lost. So thanks to Ford again, the C Max had a Navigation System!
We had many stops along the way that weren’t planned. But this is part of traveling. Discovering natural beauties and soaking into what God has created for us. Earth is a beautiful place and sometimes we don’t appreciate it enough.
Such as this place. We were on our way to Glacier National Park and we saw this view. How can we not stop to enjoy this.
One of the major places I wanted to see was Glacier National Park. Words cannot describe how beautiful this place was. Sadly, we did not get to see everything. We didn’t get to go on the Sun Road. The road was only open for 10 miles. But we got to see Lake McDonald.
We enjoyed the lake for a good 2 hour. Sena jumped into the lake and swam in the super cold water. We raced each other to see who could skip their rock the most and farthest. And we just sat and enjoyed the beautiful quiet lake with the huge snowcapped mountains behind the lake.
We also stopped on a wayside in Polson, Montana. The view was breath-taking. It just made me feel so complete, warm, and loved.
Practically, we just drove around. We discovered and explored wonderful and incedible places. We were thrilled and excited. We forgot to eat, most of the time. The time went by so fast. All of a sudden the sun is setting already.
We are ready to go back home. I didn’t want to drive at night, so we stopped at another Walmart. Rested there for the night and all I remember was reviewing what happened that day and I was asleep.
It felt like I just slept for a moment, but it was already day 3. I will continue day 3 tomorrow.
