10 Items I NEED When Traveling!

10 Items I Need When Traveling

We all have things we cannot live without. This list is narrowed down to 10 items that I must have with me when I’m traveling. I have listed these items from “I need it” to “I REALLY REALLY need it.”

10. Make-up
I need my make-up! But notice it’s at the bottom of the list because I’m not much of a materialistic gal. However, I do want to look amazing when I’m taking a photo of myself after hiking an elevation of 15,264ft.

9. Food/Snacks
I like to pack food or snack for trips. When I’m in the car ride, I’m dressed in my most comfortable outfit. This comfortable outfit I’m talking about, does not look good to go in and out of a gas station. Okay, it’s not that bad. It’s usually a t-shirt and a short. But really I live in Minne-snow-ta. If I’m traveling in the middle of winter and I’m wearing shorts plus going in and out of a gas station. People will probably think I’m a weirdo. And so what, buying snacks at Costco is cheaper than the gas station anyways. Wouldn’t you agree?

8. Sneakers
Trust me, this is always a good choice. Ladies, you  probably think you won’t need it. You’ll just wear your comfy sandal, slipper, or whatever, but you’ll end up hurting your feet. Like me. I’ve learned this the hard way more than once. I pick my sneaker collection.

7. Clothes
This one is probably on everyone's list, unless you like showing what you got?

6. Tripod
I love taking landscape and group photos. Everytime  I forget my tripod at home, I tell myself I won’t need it. Little do I know, I find myself walking into Walmart or Target just to get a tripod.

5. Wallet
Another thing we all need. Our ID, cards, and cash! Unless you have a sugar daddy/mama.

4. External Hard Drive
There’s 2 options here. If I don’t bring my hard drive, I’ll have to bring a couple SD cards. But I rather bring along my drive because at the end of the day I like to transfer all the photos I took that day into my drive. It’s much more organized and when I’m back at home I won’t have to go through each SD cards because I already have it labeled in my drive.

3. Laptop
I need my laptop to transfer photos to my drive, edit photos, and who knows. Sometimes things just pop out of nowhere and I can’t do it on my phone. I need a computer to do the job.

2. Camera
No matter how busy I am or if I’m on a vacation where I just feel like detoxing from social media. I can not leave my camera at home and just leave. There is so much to capture. If I see a beautiful sunset that’s glowing pink and blue like cotton candy. I will totally regret not bringing my camera.

1. Cell Phone
Same goes for my phone. My phone is my life. It’s amazing how this device that is smaller than the palm of my hand has so much impact in my life. I’m not talking about traveling only but I cannot leave my home without my phone. I’m afraid if I get into an accident what would I do or if my siblings suddenly got sick at school and I had to go pick him up. I don’t know, I just can’t live without my phone. I’m probably making myself sound like a whiner, but I promise I’m not much of a whiner.

This is my list of 10 items I must have with me when I’m traveling. There are definitely many more things I would bring with me, but if I had to limit myself to 10 items only. This is what I’m bringing, for now.

But I’m curious. What are your 10 items that you must have when you’re traveling. Leave it in the comments section below!

What do I think about Florida...

wp-1476780580242.jpg

I was invited to a bachelorette party and while I was there I extended my trip for a week.

If you have never been to Florida it is hot, humid, and sticky. Within 7 minutes, the ice in my iced peach tea from Starbucks had already melted. 😑

If you're in the Miami Beach district you're probably less than a block away from the ocean. Yes, I spent most of my time sitting by the ocean enjoying the waves crashing in, watching the sunrise, and watching the sunset.

It was too hot, I couldn't take the heat to go shopping. Besides eating. . . .

The water ... this was my first time at an ocean. It tasted disgusting. I tried so hard not to get it in my mouth, but it just somehow managed to get inside my mouth. Eeek. 😖 The water was warm. I was surprised. That was one of the best thing. The water stings your eyes! Yes, it hurts. Don't even try to rub it off because your whole arm is wet and full of the salt water! I tried not to go underwater and just leave my head out, like a fishing bobber.

What I loved about my time there was watching the sunset and sunrise. I set my tripod and camera up and took time lapses of the sunsets and sunrises. It was fascinating to watch how beautiful and fast time goes by. (That is my brother in the photo)

I loved the sunsets. It had beautiful shades that looked like cotton candy. 😋

The palm trees? I was disappointed. When you think about Florida you think about palm trees and coconuts, correct? You will not see big beautiful palm trees. They are short and stubby. Occasionally, you will spot beautiful tall palm trees like the image below.

I think I had too much expectations of Florida. I really expected more. I was bored most of the time. I was either in my hotel with the air conditioning on or I was sitting by the beach under an umbrella. I tried so hard not to let the hot humid weather get to me, but it seriously did. It was not a joke. While my brother and I was walking to the hotel my brother said to me, "you know, I think I can live here..." I just stood there and stared at him, are you kidding me. This is FUCKEN hot.

I did go all the way to the Keys. It was beautiful. I loved how people just parked on the side of the rode and swam.

As we were driving to and from the Keys. There were parts of the drive where the sides of the roads were blocked off by fences due to alligators/crocodiles crossing. Sometimes we even spotted parts of the fences that was lifted or broken. You know what that means, it means there was a huge and strong crocodile that tried to cross the rode. 😱 We kept ourselves entertained with stories of how the crocodile might have crossed the rode and we also kept our eyes out to see fences that were broken. And yes, it was very entertaining.

I did vlog our time in Florida. Click on the link below if you want to watch our time in Florida. [insert here link of florida vlog]

Overall, I didn't enjoy Florida. Maybe it's because of the weather. I don't know, but there was something about it that I just didn't enjoy. Makes me wonder if Santa Monica or Venice Beach will give the same vibe. (Fingers crossed. I hope not.) Don't get my wrong, I've always dreamed of living by the ocean and visiting Florida and California. But so far, Florida has really disappointed me.

California is still on my list to travel. I hope that I will make it out there, soon!

New Hobby: Paddleboarding

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset Paddleboarding Cabela's

I enjoy my days at the lake. It’s a great time to relax, enjoy myself, and chill with my family. This summer I finally got the chance to try out something I had always wanted to do.

Paddleboarding.

I was out on Lake Alice at William O’ Brien State Park, about 15 minutes north from Stillwater, MN.

The impression that was running through my head before I ever tried paddleboarding was, “is this board stable?”and “will it hold me?”

I was nervous.

You know that feeling, when you want to try it so bad but your’re so scared at the same time. That’s me.

But, surprisingly, it’s much easier than canoeing and kayaking. When you sit in a canoe or kayak, it is wobbly and you can’t shift your weight from side to side much, you’ll flip it. Paddleboarding was much more stable. I was amazed at how stable it was. I rocked the board from side to side and it would not flip. It’s trustworthy.

What I love about a paddleboard that a canoe or kayak cannot do is being able to stand on the board. I could see everything around me and in the water. I spotted a school of Carp from a distance and as I get closer, they vanish. It’s beautiful.

It’s almost Fall, that means Winter is right around the corner. I’m going to enjoy a couple more days out at the lake paddleboarding before Winter hits!

An Unexpected 4 Day Road Trip 2

An Unexpected 4 Day Road trip to Montana. The Vang Family. Livia Vang. Polson, Montana. Flathead Lake, Lake Mcdonald, Glacier National Park. yellowStone National Park, Traveling Sisters and Brothers. Siblings. Mountain goats, bisonsDay 3

We slept in Butte, MT on day 2 and when we awake we will start our journey home.

As we get ready to go home, we stopped by a gas station and happen to find that Yellowstone National Park was only 80 miles away. We talked….hesitated….and called back home and told the ones at home we are going to stay another day.

Do we regret this decision. No. Everywhere in Montana in beautiful. Huge mountains to the left and right of us capped with snow. It’s surreal. I mean, yes I live in Minnesota and we get A LOT of snow here. But have you seen snow on mountains with perfect, sunny, and 70 degree weather. We don’t get that in Minnesota.

Even the drive to Yellowstone National Park was amazing. We were driving along streams with the gorgeous mountains surrounding us. My siblings and I were looking for bears in the streams hoping to see a bear catch his meal. We didn’t see any.

As we get close to Yellowstone, we start seeing signs to beware of bisons. It sounds so unreal, right? Well they do pop out of nowhere. We saw a family of bison on the busy road and the speed limit was 70mph. My little sister wants to take pictures of the bisons but we kept telling her there will be more, hopefully, in the park. She was super sad and thought to herself that was going to be the last of it.

We enter into the West entrance of Yellowstone. I’m amazed. This place is it’s own little town. I loved how the buildings were so alike. It had its own little theme. It felt warm, cozy, and at home. The buildings were made from from wood, like a cabin.

We make our way into the park. The first thing that greeted us, was a lonely bison drinking water by the Madison River. Yes, my sister got her picture she wanted. But as we kept driving more into the park there was more than just one bison. There’s a pack of bison on the road, blocking us, traveling slowly to wherever their destination is. We loved it. They were super close to us, within arms reach. Our windows are rolled down a tiny bit and we can hear the bisons breathing. It was awesome and totally worth to spend day 3 at Yellowstone.

There were some areas of the park that wasn’t open for the day. But we still got to see a couple great things.

It was amazing. We had a great and fun time.

We left the park around 4pm. We have concluded this trip, for real this time. There was no more stopping, except for gas and restroom. Driving through the night is super dangerous. We encountered deers 2 times that evening. Thank God we did not hit any. But they definitely scared the life out of us.

We arrived home around 9AM. First thing first, we showed our films/pictures to the family.

They loved it.
